Biography:
Mr. Webb concentrates in tax law, estate planning and asset protection. He was the first Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law in Moore County (1987). This also made him one of the first to hold this designation in the entire State of North Carolina. Mr. Webb is a long-term member (over 20 years) of the North Carolina State Bar Association Tax Council and served as Chairman from 1994-1995. He also serves as the Liaison to Other Professionals for the Tax Section.
Mr. Webb’s public service includes working for the repeal of the NC gift tax (accomplished 1/1/09) and establishment of a new, independent tax adjudication forum for NC taxpayers (accomplished 1/1/08). Mr. Webb also participates with other tax professionals from approximately 10 states at the SouthEast Region Liaison meetings with national level IRS personnel in Wash, DC once a year. Often SERL is the best opportunity to quickly bring to national attention systemic problems with the Internal Revenue Code and how it is administered by the IRS.
Currently, to provide a world-class level of asset protection, Mr. Webb heads the drafting team for creation of a new limited liability company statute for a Caribbean island nation (expected to be completed by 12/1/09). Mr. Webb has created several innovations for inclusion in LLC operating agreements drafted in any jurisdiction, but the island nation’s statute would provide a firmer legal foundation for several additional protections for LLC members against claims by their creditors.
When Mr. Webb isn’t working, he is an avid scuba diver. In fact, Mr. Webb has been diving since he was in high school when he constructed his first aqua-lung out of a fire extinguisher. He still dives a few times each year. Mr. Webb also plays racquetball regularly and takes long walks with his wife Dianne. Both love the beach and enjoy going to their townhouse near Carolina Beach as much as possible. Mr. Webb has one daughter, Johanna, and four grandchildren.
